Moulin de Bousson, the Bousson watermill, is in the middle of Burgundy, on the southern edge of the Morvan Regional Park. It is a centuries-old building full of history. At the lakeside there is quietness and beauty, a place to feel at home.
There are green spaces, flowers, water, hills. And also dragonflies, frogs and birds everywhere.
The lake is in front of the mill, and the millstream still passes below it and continues as a brook which cuts the garden in two. Nine old and strong plane-trees protect the house and are a favourite spot for the herons. Seventeen years ago Jacqueline, Ton and their son Serge were enchanted by the mill and became some kind of a millers family.Bed and breakfast
Moulin de Bousson has several so-called chambres d'hôtes (guest rooms) where up to four persons can stay. These rooms are granted three épis (the equivalent of stars). They are spacey and comfortable and are equipped with a private bathroom and toilet. The rooms are actually inside the old watermill building which has been renovated with respect for its particular character. They have all a splendid view. The rooms are rented for three nights or more. You can use a large common kitchen. The rooms have central heating.Apartment (gîte)
Also in the mill there is a self-contained apartment on the ground floor for two to four persons. This gîte consists of a living room with kitchenette, an open fire-place (as well as central heating) and a double sofa bed, a bedroom with two individual beds and a bathroom (with shower, toilet and washing machine). The gîte has its own front garden with view on the lake. At the rear you have a view on the woods, fields and hills. The gîte is completely furnished and equipped. You only have to bring your bed sheets and towels. Or they can be rented. The gîte is rented by the week from saturday to saturday.Garden
At the back of the building is a large and lovely garden with many trees and bushes. A large part of which is at your disposal.Surroundings
In and around Autun (22 kms) there are many remnants from the Roman era, and also a beautiful medieval cathedral. On nearby Mont Beuvray the remains of a Gallo-Roman town are currently the subject of an archaelogical dig. Further afield there is Cluny, the spiritual center of medieval Europe with its splendid abbey and its mediterranean houses, the cathedral of Vézelay, Beaune with its Hospice and the vineyards of the Côte d'Or, Dijon, the city of the dukes of Burgundy, and of course the regional park of the Morvan, which is an ideal region for silence, walks, cycling tours, canoeing, sailing and swimming. To the south there are over twohundred superb Romanesque churches. On a 15 minutes drive from Bousson you will find a Buddhist temple and a Greek-orthodox centre.Period
